THIS IS AN OPINION BASED "ROTATION" THAT I USE! If you disagree, that's fine. Post here waht you think I am doing wrong and I shall edit it. This here, I will jot down my "Priority"
Ninjitsu Explanation Chi - Earth Ten - Heaven Jin - Man
Fuma Shuriken Ranged physical damage. - Any one of the Ten, Chi, or Jin mudra Katon AOE Fire damage - Chi→Ten or Jin→Ten Raiton Single target lightning damage. (I use this as a filler if I have no need to buff myself with Huton there's nothing to AOE) - Ten→Chi or Jin→Chi Hyoton Single target cold damage. Best for snaring for 15 seconds. - Ten→Jin or Chi→Jin Doton Slows enemies. I use it for kiting. - Ten→Jin→Chi or Jin→Ten→Chi Suiton Water damage (Lets you use Sneak Attack, Mug, and Trick Attack without Hide ) - Ten→Chi→Jin or Chi→Ten→Jin Huton Attack speed increase Jin→Chi→Ten or Chi→Jin→Ten
Rabbit Medium You get this beautiful ability when you mess up your Ninjutsu.
From here, I priortize my attacks. If my 2 dots ( Shadow Fang - Mutilate ) are on the target, I do one of 3 attacks.
Dancing Edge for extra damage. Some people consider this a "Dot" but it's just a debuff. Armor Crush to increase Huton for 30 seconds. (I renew it at 10 seconds) Aeolian Slash if all dots and debuffs are upare up.
*Most of the time, you will be standing behind the mob / boss.
Some people usually ask "What is considered "BURN BURN" when it comes to ninjas". Personally, I do the following.
* When you use Trick Attack You give a debuff called Vulnerability Up! It increases the target's damage by 10%. Sometimes, a Ninja will let everyone know when he uses this.
*This about sums up the normal DPS rotation I use. Here are some cooldown abilites you need to know of.
Kassatsu Used to reset Ninjitsu in an "Oh snap" moment. Shukuchi Used to get away from things in a blink of an eye. Shadewalker Used to help tanks gather some threat. AKA, You give them your threat. Duality Used as a DPS cooldown. Smoke Screen To get threat off another player (Healers love you for this)
Cross Class Abilities
Before I go into them, note these ARE NOT REQUIRED TO PLAY THE CLASS! They help substancially though.
MONK Featherfoot Defensive cooldown. Evasion for 12 seconds. Second Wind Defensive cooldown. Instant heal. Use only when you're critically low. Haymaker A slow attack for 12 seconds. Internal Release DPS Cooldown. Critical Strike increase for 15 seconds. Mantra Defensive cooldown. Increases your incoming heals by 5%.
LANCER Feint Slow attack for 12 seconds. Keen Flurry Defensive cooldown. Parry for 20 seconds. Invigorate Restores TP (MUCH BETTER THAN GOAD IMO. Lol im kidding) Blood for Blood DPS Cooldown. Increases damage, but increases damage taken. Use with extreme caution.
First - the basic priority rotation you have listed works well. The general consensus is if Shadow Fang has < 4-5 seconds remaining you want to refresh it if you're at the beginning of your rotation. Only refresh Mutilate if it will have < 4-5 seconds remaining after Shadow Fang or Dancing Edge/Aeolian Edge. Only use Dancing Edge if there is no Warrior available to maintain the slashing debuff.
Second - There is no point in using DWaD after Duality. Duality only affects weaponskills. In your burn rotation you will double the damage of Spinning Edge, our weakest weapon skill. The only weaponskill we use Duality with is Aeolian Edge.
Personally, I have 2 different openers/burst rotations I use depending on whether or not a Warrior is present. Since it's 2am and I'm dead tired I'll abbreviate the skill names…
Without a Warrior - Huton pre-pull, pull 5 seconds into your ninjutsu cooldown - SE > GS > DE (all this before ninjutsu is ready) - IR > SE > B4B > SF > Suiton > Mut > X-Pot > SE > Trick > SF > Kassatsu > Mut > Fuma > SE > DWaD > GS > Duality > AE > Mug > SE > Jug
With a Warrior - Huton pre-pull, pull 5 seconds into your ninjutsu cooldown - IR > SE > B4B > SF > Suiton > Mut > X-Pot > SE > Trick > SF > Kassatsu > Mut > Fuma > SE > DWaD > GS > Duality > AE > Mug > SE > Jug
- The only real difference is you perform the Aeolian Edge sequence on the pull to ensure the slashing debuff is present when you begin the actual opener rotation. - Yes, the skills are staggered deliberately. It helps prevent wasted animation locks. - Whether you use Fuma Shuriken or Raiton as filler during the priority rotation depends on whether or not your have a BRD and/or MCH to supply a magic vulnerability debuff to the boss. No magic debuff, Fuma. The BRD is a champ and has FoeReq up, Raiton. **Worth noting though that emerging theorycraft suggests that with an i200 weapon or higher Raiton may win out as the stronger ninjutsu regardless of debuffs on the target.
Edit: these openers/rotations are good for ~1.3-1.4k dps and sustained right around 1k @ i180, give or take depending on the amount of movement required in a given fight.
According to information found in this thread, the only reason to use Fuma Shuriken over Raiton is if you have heavy mudra lag. Raiton will always have a higher potency.
Also wouldn't you want to Trick Attack sooner, so your dots get the extra damage?
@Fuko - I wish I could say I don't have to deal with mudra lag, but that would be a lie. If you're not having mudra lag like me, insert Raiton for Fuma Shuriken and you're g2g.
MrHappy's 2.55 stuff worked for me but when 3.0 rolled around and he took ages to update his notes I went about putting together a rotation. I'll get around to looking at his, if it's updated finally, and compare it to what I'm doing.
SE = Spinning Edge GS = Gust Slash AE = Aeolian Edge DE = Dancing Edge SF = Shadow Fang Mut = Mutilate IR = Internal Release B4B = Blood for Blood DWaD = Dream Within a Dream Jug = Jugulate X-Pot = X Potion of Dexterity
I see waht you do, Gazih… I just do about the same thing… Just a tad differently. I've never found it meaningful to go on peoples streams… and all that to get their optimal build… I jsut do wahts most comfortable to me. I've adjusted greatly, but I prioritize and figure out what I can do where during X Y Z situations.
For the Trick Attack, if all my dots are uip [I'd like them to] I'd initiate it. But if the boss is about to do something crazy, of course I hold off. I never assume the boss / mob will be standing still the whole 10 seconds.
@Fuko We had talked about dot clipping and where I got the logic/reasoning behind clipping around the 6-ish second mark. Here's a link to a similar reddit thread (not the original one I found) where the first commenter talks about this subject. Basically it's a wash after about 6 seconds. It's not ideal but it makes everything fit nicely into my rotation.
